ABOUT
Tāndāv
Tāndāv is a Halifax-based DJ, artist, and community-driven curator at the heart of the city’s underground electronic music scene. His sets feature melodic and organic house underpinned by deep, progressive grooves and global rhythmic influences, favoring spacious, emotive melodies, evolving harmonic arcs, and textures that invite both movement and introspection. He crafts sets with rhythmic energy and forward momentum, leading the dance floor through purposeful, evolving musical journeys.
He has performed across the Atlantic Canada festival circuit, including Future Forest, Electric Pines and Vibrancy Festival. Tāndāv has shared the stage with international artists such as Mustafa Ismaeel, Leaving Laurel, Yehno, and dOP, building collaborations grounded in shared musical values.
As the visionary behind Labyrinth HFX, Tāndāv is the driving force behind one of Halifax’s most trusted underground music platforms. Through Labyrinth, he champions local and emerging artists, presents carefully curated niche international acts in Halifax, fosters community-first dance floors, and curates immersive experiences that have become a local favorite within the region’s electronic music landscape.
Maqām, born from a decade-long passion for electronic music and a wide range of influences, emerged in late 2019 as a duo with a distinctive take on organic house. Drawing from their North African and Middle Eastern heritage, they weave a 4/4 music concept enriched with cultural influences from around the globe.
The Halifax based DJ's have a deep appreciation of electronic music culture and always aim to deliver sets featuring diverse instrumentation, eccentric vocals, rhythmic percussion, all wrapped in a melodic soundstage complemented by groovy basslines. Continually demonstrating varied scope and versatility in the fabric of their programming, they always seek to capture you in their eclectic tapestry of sound.
As co-founders of Labyrinth, they continue to push their sound forward through the platform while remaining deeply motivated to contribute to Halifax’s evolving music scene.
ABOUT
BΛSΞM, born from a deep-rooted passion for electronic music after following a formative experience attending London’s Ministry of Sound, began shaping his artistic identity through immersive, sound-led journeys. Originally from Yemen and now based in Halifax, Canada. His approach to underground electronic music is deeply influenced by his musical heritage and a strong sense of rhythm, movement, and storytelling.
Influenced by the Middle East and Yemen’s rich traditional music culture and its emphasis on rhythm and percussion. Basem blends melodic, groove-driven house, deep house, and deep tech into a cohesive and evolving sound. His sets are defined by textured layers and emotional depth, creating immersive experiences that resonate on intimate dancefloors, while remaining deeply connected to Halifax’s electronic music community.
Now a member of Labyrinth, Basem has found a natural home for his sound and philosophy. Through immersive underground house sets, he continues to craft late-night journeys for listeners who connect deeply with the music and the cultural narratives woven within it.
